The Forgotten Island by David Sodergren

Sweltering holiday slasher/horror with a truly upsetting bit with a monkey meeting a very big spider. 

One of my favourite David Sodergren novels, I love that we have a modern slasher writer who very clearly doesn't hate women, which has made a whole genre feel accessible to me where it was previously pretty icky. Don't get me wrong, women also die. Pulpy gooey fun, as always with David Sodergren novels, keep your eyes peeled for a cute pug who survives unscathed, and some awful man getting his [REDACTED] exploded.
